This text-based artwork from Aisha Kiani first exhibited in Vancouver Canada 2025 at Britannia Art Gallery. This series looks at the system of White supremacy and allyship performance that override DEI commitments, claims, and policies in Canadian schools and libraries.

The series title comes from institutional responses to a ban on I Dream Library in Vancouver schools, and Freedom to Teach , a national campaign launched by I Dream Library in February, 2025.

Cistems will System / Freedom to Teach references The Pan African Flag, Palestinian Flag, Pride Flag, and the artwork Forbidden Colors (1988), by Félix González-Torres.
